#365daysofyoga - WEEK 22

Writer: Polina LoweryPolina Lowery

"What I like about yoga is that it is not based on faith, it is based on experience. I know from experience that I carry stress in my body, and the postures are ways not only of releasing that stress I carry in my body, and the postures are ways not only of releasing that stress, but confronting it, experiencing it, and understanding it. You have to learn to accept it, to live with it, and to let it go. You can apply that to a posture, or a fear, or whatever it is that is standing in the way of being at peace. The postures are one way of understanding these blockages, if you apply some wisdom to the practice, if you pay attention."

- - Clyde, a yoga student from "Meditations from the mat" by Rolf Gates.

Moving through twenties, we start collecting experience on our own, we may confront it but not quite understand it, certainly not always accept it. The last part came to me in thirties but I'm still far from figuring out how to live with it. Oh I better say it comes and goes, some things are easy and somewhat natural where others still confuse me, make me want to resist it with all the willpower I've got.

On the more fun note, blue hair was the fun spice up of this summer and taking full advantage of more opened prefectures and activities to choose from. I got to return to an apple orchard I visited during my first fall in Japan. Most of the fruit farms charge an all you can eat fee which is usually around 5$ and whatever you would like to take home gets charged by weight. On the plus side, they are extremely fresh and delicious. Fun but sometimes inconvenient part is how seasonal they are. I got to come visit the farm in September, October and November but off the season it's almost impossible to find certain produce and reasonably priced. I guess you get used to it but I do miss certain greens and berries during the winter. Oh, Japan and your seasons.
